Week in review...

The happenings at the Olivas house this week...

Wes turned two weeks old!!! He is quite possibly our easiest baby ever! Pa John came to town and spoiled the boys with cotton candy. Best part was, he even cleaned them up once they were finished!!
Jack spent his fair share in time out this week (nothing new). I went to check on him and he was wearing baby Wes' hat. Looking good, Jack! He takes time out so seriously, doesn't he?
And for the BIGGEST news...Evan lost his first top tooth! He is very excited and loves his new look. In fact, he told us he wishes he could look like this forever. Keep brushing, kid, or you very well may get what you wish for!!
Well, that's what we've been up to this week. 5 1/2 hours until Friday Night Party Night begins!!! Have a good weekend!

Thank you, Aunt Lorie!!!

My Aunt Lorie is the greatest! She sent us a box last week with lots of goodies! She made me my very own set of burpies, so that I wouldn't have to use the recycled ones from the past 8 years. Mine are all fresh and new, and Mommy says they're the cutest batch ever! She also made me an adorable blanket that even has my name embroidered on it! I use it every day! My most favorite gift, however, was the two onesies that say "Weston Reserve" on the front.....how creative is that? If you are reading this and feeling lost, here's why I will always have a connection with Napa Valley, California.....no, it's not because Mommy loves wine.

After Logan was born, Mommy and Daddy decided four little boys completed their family and they decided to take their FIRST EVER trip without kids. They went to Napa Valley for the weekend, and I came home with them! Well, I didn't exactly make my appearance until 11 days ago, but you get the idea.....I hope. Anyway, I love my new shirts, Aunt Lorie. Here's a picture of me wearing one of them...
PS-My big brothers say thank you for their gifts too! Love, Wes

It's a Cruel World...

Driving home last night, Luke received the letdown of a lifetime. Due to road construction, we took a different way home. It was dark, and Luke saw glimpses of a beautiful white building, all lit up getting closer and closer.
"I see it!" He screamed with excitement. "We're getting closer...we're almost there!" "Are we going there?" He asked.
"Going where?" We responded.
"To Disneyland! I see it out my window!"
By this time, Derek and I knew we were facing a difficult task. Poor Luke needed to be let down ever so gently. We decided to give it to him straight up.......

"That's not Disneyland, Lukey. It's the Mormon church."

As a parent, I have a few words for the architect......

***FYI-The church above is the Temple in Salt Lake City. However, it looks a lot like the one we passed the other night.

Such a good baby!!

Here's a picture of Wes that was taken this morning. I'm trying to get one with his eyes open, but that doesn't happen too often! He is a wonderful baby!

So nice to meet you!!

Hello Everyone!

Let me introduce myself- My name is Weston Madrill Olivas. I joined the Olivas Fraternity yesterday morning @ 10:22 AM. What a long journey! I weighed a whopping 6.4 pounds and I'm 19.25 inches long. Mommy's DR said I'm a big boy for someone who was born at 36 weeks! The nurses were bugging and poking me too much in the hospital, so Mommy and I skipped out one day early. I am happy to be home getting to know Daddy and my adoring brothers. They love to feed me, hold me, kiss me, sing to me, and fight over who held me the longest. They even help to change my diaper when I am poopy! Here are two pictures for now and Mommy promises to send more as soon as she can. I love you all and can't wait to meet you!

Sincerely,

Wes

Getting closer!

After several hours of waiting, and some miscommunication along the way, we are finally scheduled to be induced at 8:30 this evening...YEAH!!! We'll keep you posted and try to send pictures as soon as possible! We can't wait to meet this big boy!!!

Anyone interested in guessing his date/time of birth, weight & length????????

Here's my guess: Birthday-8/14 @ 4:53 AM Weight-6 pounds, 15.5 ounces

Derek's guess: Birthday-8/14 @ 5:30 AM Weight-7 pounds

Person with the closest guess becomes our new babysitter!! Good Luck!

Lungs are ready!!!

Well, I had an amniocentesis this morning and baby Wes' lungs are ready to go! Now we are just waiting to hear from the Dr. to see what he would like to do. We're crossing our fingers he wants us to come in today! For now, we just have to be patient (which is very hard), and wait for the phone to ring. Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock............

Baby Update...

Hi Everyone!

Just came from the DR. Here's an update on baby Wes and an ultrasound picture they took of him this morning. He's a big boy, already over 7 pounds they think. They'll do an amniocentesis on Wednesday to see if his lungs are mature. If they are, they'll have me go in for an induction Wednesday night. I'll keep you posted!
He looks grumpy, doesn't he? He wants a steak!!!

I guess I've been called worse...

For weeks now, I've been carefully studied by my boys and compared to other pregnant women we see in public. As always, I am told that I am bigger than whoever they are referring to at the time. They're kids...they're my kids...they don't mean any harm...I am thankful for their honesty, for they are sure to lose some of it as they get older. (These are the comforting little thoughts I tell myself in my head.) This morning, Logan came into our bathroom and looked at me with sparkling eyes and a smile that would resemble a child on Christmas morning. "BALLOON!" He shrieked.....pointing at my belly. Balloons are one of Logan's favorite things, and he couldn't understand why I wouldn't give 'mine' to him. Trust me, little man, if I could give you my balloon, I would in a heartbeat. Mommy appreciates your honesty.

One Year Ago...

Today I was looking at the boys and couldn't believe how much they've changed since last summer. I decided to open up the 'archives' on the computer and find out EXACTLY what we were up to one year ago today. We were busy, as usual, but enjoying time together!

~The Olivas Clan August 2007~

At the gator Farm in Alamosa!
Visiting Pa John's ranch! Evan and Luke were casting their new fishing poles off of the deck. Can you believe it, not even one bite?!
Baby Logan meeting Grandma Hita for the first time! He was only 8 weeks old. As soon as baby Wes arrives, we plan to visit Alamosa as quickly as possible. We always have so much fun visiting with family and exploring Grandma's yard with the boys!
